annual banquet
Toni Marcotte has been a member of the Capitol Steps Synchronized Skating Team for the last 9 years and currently skates on the Junior team.  This past year, Toni’s Team earned 3rd place at the 2013 Eastern Synchronized Skating Sectional Championships, which gave them the opportunity to compete at Nationals!  Toni also became a USFSA Gold Medalist for Moves in the Field, as well as earning her Gold Medal in Ice Dancing and her Gold Medal in Solo Free Dance!  Toni has also passed the Juvenile Freeskate test.

Toni is graduating from W.T. Woodson High School and will be attending Miami University in Oxford, Ohio in the fall. She hopes to compete on their varsity synchronized skating teams.  Ever humble, Toni wants to say thank you to her coaches, Sandy Sparger, Jill Smith and to SCNV for all the support she has received over the last 9 years.

Toni started skating at age 2 in a program called ice babies in Frederick, MD.  She started synchronized skating at age 4. When she struggled with her Pre-Juvenile Moves in the Field Test, she began ice dancing to build up her confidence.  After 8 tries at Pre-Juvenile MIF she finally passed that test and has been soaring since then!  Toni moved to Fairfax 5 years ago and loves the 5:30AM session.

Not only does Toni excel on the ice, but off the ice as well. Toni has achieved over a 4.0 and is a member of several Honor Societies, the Varsity Math Team and is the President of the Mentoring Club at Little Run Elementary School where she volunteers to mentor autistic pre-schoolers. Over the summer she is a volunteer camp counselor at a camp for autistic adults in New York. Toni also plays the piano and was a member of the Track & Field team this past spring.
