Athlete SafeSport
All athletes 18 years or older competing on a team (i.e. synchro, dance, pairs, theatre, etc.) with minor athletes are required to complete the online SafeSport training in order to participate in the upcoming season. Athletes younger than 18 may take the training with the consent of a parent. This training will be an annual requirement moving forward.
All athletes, as outlined above, who do not complete the SafeSport training by their 18th birthday will be SafeSport non-compliant on their 18th birthday. The athlete will not be SafeSport compliant until they have completed the training and their Members Only portal reflects completion. Accordingly, we encourage any athlete who is currently age 17 to seek parental consent to take the training early.
SafeSport Training Instructions
- Enter your Members Only profile at: www.usfsaonline.org
- Access your “Member Profile” under “Account” and click on the “Compliance” tab.
- Click the red “Begin” button next to SafeSport Online Training and follow the prompts. This will ensure your training records are merged with your profile.
- Complete the training and subsequent quiz in it entirety.
- If you have issues with completing the training, reach out to safesport@usfigureskating.org
If an athlete is not required to complete the training this year, we suggest parents or guardians offer them the youth SafeSport training which is formatted to be age specific. These courses require parental consent and can be found at http://www.athletesafety.org.

SCNV offers multiple types of recognitions for our skaters. First, we recognize all passed tests on our website and free patches for our full members. Those who pass a gold test are honored at our banquet and awarded a the USFS gold medal. Second, we honor our academic stars in 8th grade and above, the application for the academic scholar awards is usually available in July/August and those who qualify are recognized at our South Atlantic send-offs event in September. At our banquet in June we recognize both adult and junior skaters for outstanding achievements in testing and competing with our named trophies. The skater’s name is engraved and they take ownership for the year. We also offer college scholarships for those skaters who are active in the sport through their high school years and meet club requirements.
