Annual Banquet News 8/9
The SCNV annual banquet is a time to celebrate last season and look ahead to the new one with skating friends old and new. Admittedly, this year’s event will look a little different. You should have received an invitation via email on 7/18/20 and all RSVPs MUST BE RECEIVED BY JULY 30th. If you did not receive your invitation or if you have any questions, feel free to contact renee@scnv.org.

For those of you who return year after year for this rockin’ good time, restrictions due to the COVID-19 pandemic require us to make changes this year. Instead of dinner and dancing in dressy attire, this year we will be outside on a large grassy field with plenty of room for social distancing. All attendees will sit with their family unit, adhere to 6 feet social distancing and be required to wear a mask, except when eating. (If you are sick, have a temperature or have been in contact with anybody that has tested positive for COVID-19, please stay home.)

As usual, we will be recognizing every skater, awarding trophies and gold medals, raffling off skater essentials, producing our annual “Whatever” publication and watching our annual video. What could possibly replace the dancing you ask? How about a visit from a former Harlem Globetrotter?! Spinny Johnson will be performing fun and amazing basketball tricks while talking about the importance of education, respect, goal setting, determination and perseverance. Don’t miss his thrilling performance!

PLEASE RESPOND AS SOON AS POSSIBLE (no later than 7/30).

IT IS VERY IMPORTANT THAT WE KNOW WHO IS ATTENDING SO WE CAN MAKE THIS EVENT AS SAFE (AND FUN!) AS POSSIBLE.

USFS Competitors Scholarships 8/31
Online applications are now available for seven scholarship programs from USFS with a deadline of 8/31. Please see www.usfigureskating.org/scholarships-and-funding/scholarships-awards-and-grants to learn more.

Skate Wilmington 9/1-6
Skate Club of Wilmington has announced their 54th annual Skate Wilmington will open for registration on 7/10 via your USFS EMS login. Please see Skate Wilmington 2020 for details.

Annual Meeting 9/7
The club’s annual membership meting is scheduled for 9/7 at 7:00 PM via teleconference only (zoom). Link to follow with agenda and reports prior to meeting date. All prior and current season adult members and parent/guardians of junior members are welcome to join the call. Per our bylaws, only current 2020-21 members are eligible to vote on the slate of nominees for election to the board of directors, along with other annual meeting business. More information is found on the Annual Meeting and Elections page.
