I have been a member of the Skating Club of Northern for Virginia for at over twenty years and have served on the Board of Directors for the last nine. I have served as the club president for the past four years. During my time on the SCNV Board I have taken on projects including the application for our charitable status with the IRS, obtaining a grant and purchasing the Atlantic Coast mini system for IJS and served as part of the team for all SCNV competitions either as an official or part of the LOC. Initially I joined our club as the parent of two skaters and then more recently as a US Figure Skating official. I currently serve as a Sectional judge for singles and pairs and as a National synchronized competition judge. Additionally, I have a both technical and referee appointments. I also serve on several US Figure Skating committees.
It is my pleasure to judge regularly at test sessions for both SCNV and other local clubs although I no longer live in Fairfax. I look forward to the opportunity to maximize the positive impact of the SCNV on the lives of our skaters and volunteers. During my next term on the Board of Directors I would like to focus on improving communication – including social media, growing our pool of qualified officials and restructuring our calendar of skating events. Currently, I am teaching economics remotely through George Mason University.
