George Conant bio

George Conant currently serves as Legislative Director in the California State University’s Office of Federal Relations in Washington, D.C. Prior to joining the CSU, George served for ten years as a senior staff member with the House Committee on Education and the Workforce. In this capacity, he had primary responsibility for postsecondary education (including federal student loans and Pell grants) and school finance issues. He also played a role in numerous authorizations of federal elementary and secondary education law. George’s experience also includes serving on the staff of the Post Office and Civil Service Committee, and as a Legislative Assistant in the office of Congressman Tom Petri (WI).

George has served on the SCNV Board for several years, and is currently the club Vice President, as well as the membership Committee and Awards Committee chair. His wife Rachel and daughter Emily are both active SCNV members. While George represents the California State University and SCNV in Washington, he remains an avid Green Bay Packer and Wisconsin Badger Fan. A native of Ripon, Wisconsin, Conant earned his Bachelor of Science degree in political science and American foreign policy from the University of Wisconsin, Madison.
