SUMMARY:2026 Choreography Seminar with Anna Matuszewski
DESCRIPTION:Join us for an exciting Choreography Seminar designed for who are looking to elevate their performance and artistry. This seminar will focus on performance quality and choreography\, giving athletes tools to skate with greater confidence\, and expression as they head into the competitive season. \nThe seminar will be led by Anna Matuszewski\, who will work with skaters both on and off the ice. Her classes will focus on choreography\, movement\, and performance. Christine Heckel will lead an Athletic Fascia class\, teaching skaters how to properly warm up and cool down using a flex band. Athletes will learn how prepare their bodies for peak performance and recovery. \nThe day will begin with two alternating groups at Fairfax Ice Arena. One group on the ice with Anna and one group off the ice with Christine. Following the on-ice and off-ice sessions\, all skaters will walk together to Athletic Potential Studio (a 3-minute walk from the rink) for an off-ice dance and movement class with Anna. \nThis seminar is designed to be fun\, engaging\, and inspiring! A perfect kick-start to the competitive season. \nThere will also be a Parent Chat let by the SCNV board member Laura Koscho at Fairfax Ice Arena from 7-7:45am. DESCRIPTION:SCNV is hosting space for support and conversation for all skaters and their parents at Fairfax Ice Arena. Two sessions will be held: \n\n5 to 7 p.m. Sunday\, February 2.\n5 to 7 p.m. Friday\, February 7.\n\nThis program will be moderated by Rebecca Berman\, licensed clinical social worker\, who will be accompanied by additional grief therapists. Individuals who would like to speak privately with Ms. Berman or another faculty member will have opportunity to do so. \nWe encourage all skaters to attend to listen and/or to share. No one will be pressed to speak. We will prioritize this program to skaters. Any remaining spaces will be open to parents. DESCRIPTION:The May Day Open and Compete USA 2024 is scheduled for May 9-11\, 2024. This competition will be held at The Gardens Ice House in Laurel\, MD\, and has event from Aspire through Senior level\, and Adult Pre-Bronze through Master levels. \nEvents include freestyle\, compulsory events (moves\, spins\, jumps)\, interpretive freestyle\, artistic freestyle\, pairs\, solo dance\, and ice dance. IJS critiques will once again be available. \nPlease Note: The May Day Open is proud to be a competition within the 2024 U.S. Figure Skating Excel Series.
