Club Ice News

Only 4 weeks left! See our schedule for drop-in’s on our website calendar, and posted at the club bulletin board across the skate rental counter. Members (non-LTS/Aspire, and ISI FS2+) welcome to drop in anytime with the following schedule:

  • Sunday Freestyle sessions (50 minutes) at 11:10am to 12:00pm
  • Monday Solo Pattern Dance sessions (2 classes of 20 minutes each) at 7:25pm to 8:05pm
  • Monday Freestyle sessions (60 minutes) at 8:05pm to 9:05pm

Cardinal Classic – Volunteers Needed!

It’s hard to believe that our annual Cardinal Classic competition is just TWO weeks away! This year we are anticipating over 350 skaters and 20 TOI teams. As such, we need a lot of helping hands to make this even a successful one. If you have signed up then I thank you!! If you have not then please review the available slots and sign up as soon as possible so that we can commence our training.

SCNV believes that volunteering should be voluntary and appreciated. The Volunteer Incentive Program is designed to encourage volunteerism by giving back to volunteers and acknowledging their contributions. Accordingly, SCNV offers to members a 10 percent discount on the next year membership dues to members who volunteer ten hours or more in volunteer jobs designated as volunteer incentive hours eligible.

To learn more about how the Volunteer Incentive Program works click (here). Skaters can utilize these hours to fulfill their Girl Scouts or school requirements.

Annual Meeting Online & FIA – 5/20

Our club’s annual meeting will be both online via zoom (website link TBA), and in-person at FIA on Monday, 5/20 at 7:00 PM (lobby or locker room). Please note that the 5/24 date was incorrect.

Junior Board Bowling Night – 5/24

Hey skaters! Let the good times roll, and head over to Bowlero in Tysons Corner on Friday, 5/24 from 7:00 to 9:00 PM.

Annual Banquet – 6/9

Please join us for a celebratory evening with dinner, awards, games, entertainment and fun! RSVP HERE

June 9th at 4pm at Belle Haven Country Club.

Cost for the banquet is $35 for members and $40 for non-members. (Parents, siblings, family, friends and skaters from other club who do not have their own SCNV membership)

Payment for the banquet will be made through the SCNV Store and must be received by May 31st at 11.59 pm. You must RSVP HERE and pay on the SCNV website store to be registered to attend the banquet.

Please include the skater(s)’s name in the comment in your RSVP.

Please send your pictures or videos (practice, off ice, test, competitions, with your friends, with your coaches) from the 2023-2024 season to socialmedia@scnv.org for our slide video. Limit 3 pictures per skater.

Deadline is May 31, 2024 at 11.59 pm (EST)!!! Pictures or videos sent after the deadline will not be included in our video presentation!!!

Did You Know?!

For our Junior Board bowlers, the perfect game in bowling is 300 which is 12 strikes (i.e. strike in first 9 frames, then 3 strikes in last frame). The probability of a perfect game is 0.0244% or 1 in every 4,096 games. (Source: PBA)
