Get Ready for Competition Season! Registration is now open for our Annual Singles Critique, happening Saturday, April 11, at Prince William Ice Center. This event is free for SCNV members and provides a rare chance for skaters to skate their programs and receive expert feedback from a U.S. Figure Skating judge and a USFS technical panel official (where applicable).
Skaters will skate their program to music on empty ice, just like at a competition. This exhibition is great practice for skaters of all levels, and helps inspire confidence! Officials will be there to offer feedback, including identifying and issues; in past years, our judges helped catch missing elements and offered practical tips to improve performance.
To register, log into Entryeeze and find “Freestyle Critique, Saturday, April 11, in Prince William, VA (Members Only)” under Test Sessions.
We’d love to see your skater take advantage of this opportunity!
Questions? Please contact Jenn at jenn@scnv.org.
SCNV is Looking to Grow our Team of Medical Service Professionals
Are you a medical professional? Would you lend us your expertise? SCNV is required to have medical professionals rinkside during competitions as a condition for us receiving a sanction. The qualifications are: Licensed physicians (MD/DO), physician assistants (PA-C), nurse practitioners (NP), nurses (RN), chiropractors (DC), physical therapists (PT), athletic trainers (ATC) and massage therapists (LMT).
We know some of our professionals who have helped at the Cardinal Classic in past years (thank you!!). If you are not on our resource list, please send Melissa an email at melissa@scnv.org . If you have friends who are medical professionals, can you reach out to see if they would like to join our resource list. We realize the schedules are complex; being on our resource list is not a commitment to volunteer at the Cardinal – just a commitment to receiving an email from us checking availability!

US Figure Skating – Remembering Those Aboard FLT 5342 on the One-Year Anniversary: Always in Our Hearts
Throughout the month of January, individuals are invited to participate in this activity on their own or coordinate with their clubs to host a time to participate together in honor of those who have shaped their skating journey.
- Write a note, message, drawing, quote or symbol honoring a person you care about on a piece of origami paper.
- Fold your message into an origami heart. Click here for instructions.
- Mail your heart(s) to: U.S. Figure Skating, 20 First St, Colorado Springs, CO 80906. All hearts we collect will be distributed to the clubs that lost members on Flight 5342.
- Clubs can provide a collection box for members to deposit their origami hearts and send them to us in bulk.
- OR: Keep the hearts and host a community gathering to string the hearts together.
