Volunteer Appreciation 5/25
To all our great volunteers! Our volunteer appreciation event is set for this Memorial Day, 5/25 at 4:00 PM in the rear FIA parking lot area (for social distancing). If you did not receive your invitation, contact renee@scnv.org, and please stop by (with your masks and gloves).

Figure Skaters’ Favorites Vol. II Fundraiser 7/1
Michelle Capron from Glens Falls FSC is assembling a Volume II of her favorite recipe cookbook from all skaters. Volume I featured 450 recipes from 270 skaters from around the world, and Michelle is working on publishing its sequel with set proceeds donated to the US Figure Skating Memorial Fund. The book to be available by November this year for $25 plus approximately $8.50 shipping (and NY state sales tax as applicable).

To enter, please submit a bio paragraph summary, a photo (for social media), that recipe along with a short note why it is your favorite. Deadline is 7/1 and email your entries to skaterscookbook@gmail.com.

Annual Banquet News 8/9
The Annual Banquet is rebooked for Sunday, 8/9. Do you have recent quarantine off-ice photos to share? Please send what you have via email to Jessica at johara2010@gmail.com.

We like action shots, athletes and coaches, group shots, whatever sums up your year on the ice. If possible, please indicate in the email who is in each photo or video (or something along lines of ‘adult theatre team’ for large group photos). This will help us greatly.

USFS News
Update: NQS and the Solo Dance series has been cancelled for the 2019-2020 season.
A message from the US Figure Skating Association (USFS) in regards to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic: “Until the rink doors are open again, stay healthy and most importantly take care of yourself and your loved ones. We’re all in this together and will emerge a stronger and better ice sports community.

Official local and federal guidance on the COVID-19 pandemic below:

Per the Governor of Virginia Executive Order 55, a state wide stay at home order is in effect until 6/10, supplementing Governor of Virginia Executive Order 53 also in effect for all non-essential businesses (including ice rinks) to stay closed until 4/24. The Amended Executive Order 53 has now extended the closure until 5/8. For the northern virginia area, the Governor of Virginia Executive Order 62 has extended the closure until 5/28 for Phase 1.

If you have any questions or concerns, please contact the president@scnv.org for further assistance.
