Happy Holidays!
SCNV is hosting a Volunteer Appreciation Night on Saturday, 12/6 at PWIC — an evening filled with wine, appetizers, and wonderful company. This is our way of saying thank you for your continued dedication, teamwork, and enthusiasm. We’re excited to honor our amazing SCNV parents and skaters who make everything we do possible.

Happy Holidays! Everyone is cordially invited to our Junior Board Holiday Party on Sunday, 12/7 from 6:30 to 8:30 PM at the Blenheim Interpretive Center in Fairfax City (same venue as the last few years). Let’s celebrate with food, games and holiday cheer! Holiday pajama outfits are welcome!

Get Ready for Competition Season! Registration is now open for our Annual Singles Critique, happening Saturday, April 11, at Prince William Ice Center. This event is free for SCNV members and provides a rare chance for skaters to skate their programs and receive expert feedback from a U.S. Figure Skating judge and a USFS technical panel official (where applicable).
Skaters will skate their program to music on empty ice, just like at a competition. This exhibition is great practice for skaters of all levels, and helps inspire confidence! Officials will be there to offer feedback, including identifying and issues; in past years, our judges helped catch missing elements and offered practical tips to improve performance.
To register, log into Entryeeze and find “Freestyle Critique, Saturday, April 11, in Prince William, VA (Members Only)” under Test Sessions.
We’d love to see your skater take advantage of this opportunity!
Questions? Please contact Jenn at jenn@scnv.org.
Our first test session of 2026 is a virtual one. Singles, Skating Skills, and Solo and Partnered Pattern Dance will be available, for standard, adult and adaptive tracks. Registration is on EntryEeze in your account under Test Sessions.
- Register by Wednesday night, Jan. 14.
- Videos must be submitted by 11:59 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 15.
Remember: Our Saturday and Sunday morning Club Ice at Fairfax Ice Arena is a great time to film your virtual test–minimal distractions on or off the ice!
Questions? Please contact Jenn at jenn@scnv.org.
We are seeking volunteers for the planning committee for the Cardinal Classic 2026. The planning committee—called a Local Organizing Committee (LOC) – is responsible for planning and executing all aspects of the competition. We are a fun group that meet once a month starting in January (via Zoom) until the competition, scheduled for May 29-31, 2026.
We are looking for volunteers to help on committees. We have lots of experienced LOC members but want to build out our bench to include more of our fabulous club volunteers.
New this year: We want to have a Technology Chair to lead new initiatives in communications – particularly upgrading our access to reliable Wi-Fi.
Other Opportunities: As co-chair or taking on small organizational jobs supporting committee work.
Award (small jobs)
Hospitality (small jobs)
Medical (co-chair)
Music (small jobs)
Officials (small jobs)
Program (cover design)
Registration (small jobs)
Set Up (small jobs)
Volunteer Recruitment (co-chair)
AND, if anyone is interested in co-leading the entire effort, Melissa would LOVE to have a co-chair.
If you are interested in helping with the planning, or have questions, contact melissa@scnv.org.
