Collegiate Scholarship Application Deadline Reminder 4/26
Final reminder! For Class of 2020 seniors planning to attend college this Fall, consider using your club membership collegiate scholarship benefit. SCNV Off Ice Class with Coach Audrey Weisiger 5/2
As many of our members our taking virtual off ice classes with their coaches, teams and friends, SCNV is pleased to announce that Grassroots To Champions (G2C) Founder and Olympic/World Level Coach Audrey Weisiger will lead a 30 minute, video conference Off Ice Class on 5/2 at 1:00PM at no charge to all full members. Please check your email next week for the web link to join via zoom.com.

Annual Banquet News 8/9
The Annual Banquet is rebooked for Sunday, 8/9. We are still looking for your photos and short video clips from last year. Please send what you have via email to Jessica at johara2010@gmail.com.

We like action shots, athletes and coaches, group shots, whatever sums up your year on the ice. If possible, please indicate in the email who is in each photo or video (or something along lines of ‘adult theatre team’ for large group photos). This will help us greatly.

A message from the US Figure Skating Association (USFS) in regards to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic: “Until the rink doors are open again, stay healthy and most importantly take care of yourself and your loved ones. We’re all in this together and will emerge a stronger and better ice sports community.”

Per the Governor of Virginia Executive Order 55, a state wide stay at home order is in effect until 6/10, supplementing Governor of Virginia Executive Order 53 also in effect for all non-essential businesses (including ice rinks) to stay closed until 4/24. The Amended Executive Order 53 has now extended the closure until 5/8.

The club annual meeting on 5/15 has been postponed with a tentative reschedule this summer.

Did you know?!
As the most visible and impressive feat for non-skaters, the jump might be the most beautiful textbook examples of physics in ice skating. Per Dr. James Richards professor of kinesiology and applied physiology at the University of Delaware, “it amounts to three components: how much angular momentum do you leave the ice with, how small can you make your moment of inertia in the air, and how much time you can spend in the air.” (Smithsonian Magazine, 2/7/2018)
