Capitol Skaters HS Team Interest Meeting – 8/31
Are you a high school skater and interested in joining one of the many area students who are part of the USFSA high school skating program? Capitol Skaters is an area team that welcomes participation by all levels of skaters and competes regionally and virtually. This fun opportunity is meant to foster camaraderie in our sport and represent the capital area in regional, sectional and national competitions. Please join us for an informational zoom meeting on August 31st at 8:00 pm – please email for zoom details and to hear from our team captains and parent organizers.

US Figure Skating Scholarships Deadline – 8/31
Are You eligible to receive funding for the 2023-24 competitive skating season? U.S. Figure Skating will distribute more than $750,000 in the upcoming year to qualified athletes.

US Figure Skating Graduating Seniors Program News – 9/1
The 2024 application for Graduating Seniors Award will open on September 1, 2023, for all high school skaters who are graduating in the spring of 2024.

You can access the application here. This application link is also posted on the Graduating Seniors page on Members Only.

The award criteria has been updated this year, so please read the new criteria before submitting. The criteria and other information regarding the Graduating Senior Award can be found here. This resource can also be found in the application for you to reference as needed.

Adult Skating News
Attention all adult athletes! The 2023 ISU North American International Adult Competition is just around the corner! Don’t miss your chance to compete against other top athletes in your category. Registration opens tomorrow, August 13th at 12 pm CST USA. This is your chance to show off your skills and compete at the highest level. Register tomorrow and secure your spot in this prestigious competition! (Held at Ford Ice Center in Bellevue, TN from October 17 to 22, 2023 and also at Oberstdorf, Germany in May 2024)

Club Ice Registration is open! Begins 9/10 and 9/11
Registration signup and Entryeeze payments are now available for the 2023-24 season! Schedule is posted at the club bulletin board across the skate rental counter. Members welcome to drop in anytime with the following schedule:

  • Sunday Freestyle sessions (40 minutes) at 11:20am to 12:00pm
  • Monday Freestyle sessions (60 minutes) at 8:05pm to 9:05pm
  • Monday Solo Pattern Dance sessions (2 classes of 20 minutes each) at 7:25pm to 8:05pm

Did You Know?!
Michelle Kwan sits as the most decorated figure skater – male or female – in the United States, having won 43 championships. She earned two Olympic medals, five world championships, and nine U.S. championship titles. Today, Kwan serves as the U.S. Ambassador to Belize (source:
