The Skating Club of Northern Virginia (SCNV), a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization founded in 1975, is a member club of U.S. Figure Skating (USFS), the governing body for the sport of figure skating in the United States. Our Club is USFS member number 1615. SCNV is dedicated to supporting skaters of all levels, and offers a warm and friendly atmosphere for skaters and their families.
Mission Statement of the Skating Club of Northern Virginia
Our mission is to foster the sport of figure skating at the local, national and international level by providing member services, conducting competitions and test sessions, and providing an organizational structure that supports activities, such as skating sessions, seminars, and other programs that enrich the development of competitive and recreational figure skaters in multiple disciplines. This includes, for such purposes, the awarding of scholarships to support and encourage figure skaters. The corporation shall be operated exclusively for these purposes within the meaning of Section 501(c )(3) of the Internal Revenue Code.

Value Statement of the Skating Club of Northern Virginia
We promote participation in figure skating in an atmosphere of fun good sportsmanship and inclusion. We encourage character building through sports participation. Recognizing that this is an activity for all ages and abilities, we strive to provide an environment for competitive, recreational and social ice skating. We encourage each member to develop to his/her potential by supporting programs or endeavors at all levels and in all disciplines that enhance accomplishment and enjoyment in the sport. We celebrate bringing people together through a varied channels of social interaction with the goal of sustaining a membership of valued skaters, officials, coaches, parents, fans and volunteers.

In addition to this web site, SCNV maintains two bulletin boards at Fairfax Ice Arena: one between the lesson desk and the skate rental counter, and one inside the rink outside of the coach’s lounge. SCNV maintains one bulletin board at Prince William Ice Center on the same wall with the rental skate counter across from the Olympic ice sheet.
