National Blades Try-It Sessions – 3/4 to 3/25
National Blades have synchronized skating teams try-it sessions at Haymarket Iceplex on Saturdays, 3/4 to 3/25 from 9:00 to 9:50 AM. Skill ranges from Basic 3 to Pre-Freestyle levels for ages 6 to 17 years old. Registration opens 1/15 at www.nationalblades.com. Contact synchro@scnv.org for details.

Join FIA 50th Anniversary Celebration Deadline – 3/6
For all current and past SCNV members, you are cordially invited to the 50th Anniversary Celebration of Fairfax Ice Arena. Walk down memory lane with past and current Fairfax Ice Arena figure skaters & hockey players, coaches, staff, and their families. There will be food, drinks, games, prizes and skating.

When: Saturday, March 18, 2023, 4:45 p.m. – 7:45 p.m.
Where: Fairfax Ice Arena, 3779 Pickett Rd., Fairfax, VA 22031

Attire is business casual; bring your skates and skating attire if you are skating; old Fairfax Ice Arena branded attire encouraged.

RSVP before March 6, 2023 is required. Please also send a photo of you skating at Fairfax Ice Arena and what years you were skating to Fairfax Ice Arena General Manager Todd Martin at tmartin@fairfaxicearena.com. The photo will be used in a photo display during the event. Parking is limited.

Test Session Critique Deadline – 3/31
In support of our skaters as they prepare for their 2023-24 competition season, SCNV is excited to offer our second annual free skate critique session on April 15th at Prince William Ice Center. This event is free to all members. Registration deadline is 3/31.

Each skater will have the opportunity to skate his/her program and be critiqued by one of our US Figure Skating judges as well as one of our US Figure Skating technical panel official if appropriate. It is our hope that this will provide our skaters an opportunity to get valuable feedback about their new programs.

We will make sure that each skater will get an opportunity for this important event. Coaches, please email thuthuy@scnv.org if your skaters are unable to register.

HJJ Collegiate Scholarship Deadline – 4/7
To our graduating High School Class of 2023, SCNV offers the Honor and John Johnson Collegiate Scholarships, and we encourage you to apply now. Deadline is 4/7.

Cardinal Classic Deadline – 4/21
Cardinal Classic registration deadline is 4/21. The Cardinal Classic 2023 is still looking for sponsors. Please support our skaters by sponsoring the Club competition.

SCNV Annual Award Banquet: Sunday, June 11th at 4 to 8 pm. More information will be posted soon.

Deadline May 31,2023 at 11.59 pm!!! (EST) Pictures or videos sent after the deadline will not be included in our video presentation!!!

Club Ice News
For March, both Sunday FS Ice and Coach Elizabeth on Monday Solo Pattern Dance class are back. All members can pay $18 to drop-in anytime (non-members limited to 3 times) at either Freestyle or coach led sessions. For Freestyle sessions, skaters are expected to follow the Club Ice Etiquette to maintain fairness and safety for all our skaters.

Did You Know?!
Collegiate club skaters Elizabeth Chuang and Mai Friedman, along with Virginia Ice Theatre (VIT) alum Cheryl Bae will compete with their University of Virginia Figure Skating team at the USFSA Collegiate Sectional: University of Delaware from 3/11 to 3/12. Go Wahoos!
