2019-2020 Club Ice Session Registration Now Open!
Looking for more practice ice, off-ice and a Solo Pattern Dance series class with testing credit? The 2019-2020 Club Ice program registration is open with its original Monday evening, 40 minute Freestyle session at Fairfax Ice Arena, along with Joe Griffin’s Off-Ice class and Jonathon Hodgkinson’s new Solo Pattern Dance series class with opportunity for testing credit. In addition, we now offer a new session on Sunday afternoons at Prince William Ice Center with an extended 60 minute Freestyle session. Online Registration (contract and medical release via JotForms) including payment (via EntryEeze) to be posted by September 2nd on Club Ice web page. Save the Date for Sendoffs!
Please come cheer on our skaters and recognize our scholars at SENDOFFS this Saturday September, 14th.
Exhibitions will begin promptly at 4:10pm (note new time!) and scholar awards will be presented around 4:45pm (come a bit early in case we are running ahead).
Following the exhibitions, we will host a potluck social in the lobby and allow our SCNV skaters some party time on the ice!
This event is free – so come on out to Fairfax Ice Arena to celebrate with our skaters and scholars!

Scott Hamilton Cares- Sunday, October 27th
We are excited to announce the return with Sk8 to Elimin8 CancerTM Washington, D.C. 2019 – have you registered yet? We need your help to make a difference and turn cancer upside down™!

This year, we’ll be celebrating with a Frozen 5k for the whole family and performances from our top fundraisers, all at MedStar Captials Iceplex on Sunday, October 27th!

2020 Scholastic Honors Team
Are you a high school junior or senior with good grades? Be sure to apply for the prestigious 2020 Scholastic Honors Team. You can earn a $2,500 academic scholarship and be honored on ice at the 2020 U.S. Figure Skating Championships in Greensboro, North Carolina.
The award is available to U.S. Figure Skating members of all disciplines who are juniors or seniors at an accredited high school. They must be full-time students with a grade point average of 3.4 or higher and have competed at the novice, junior or championship level in singles, pairs, ice dance or synchronized during the last two years. Candidates are asked to submit an application and an essay, which are reviewed by a selection panel.

Adult Skaters! (Yes, we skate too!!)

Did You Know?!
Figure skating is called “figure skating” because, years ago, designs were skated on clean ice in the shape of a figure eight. These designs were called figures. Compulsory figures were eliminated from all official figure skating competitions in the early 1990s, and 1992 was the first Winter Olympics to not include compulsory figures at ice skating events. Today, tracing figures is no longer part of the competition.
